Woman’s Hospital History Wall

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of a Healthcare Facility

On November 18, 1968, Woman’s Hospital opened as one of the first specialty hospitals for women in the U.S. More than a decade prior, the baby boom was in full swing. Though nearly 400 babies were being born each month at two area hospitals, several OB-GYNs recognized that women could be better served at a dedicated birth facility. Woman’s Hospital’s 21 founders began working in 1956 to plan, finance, and build a hospital exclusively for women. This new hospital was thoughtfully named “Woman’s” to convey the physicians’ commitment to treating each woman’s individual and unique healthcare needs over the span of her lifetime.

The hospital wanted to create a history wall in order to commemorate its fifty years of service to the community in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and engaged the assistance of ASI to help fulfil the vision.

About the Solution

ASI created a six-section Historical Wall Display. The wall display included eight acrylic display boxes to showcase some of the hospital’s artifacts. These acrylic boxes needed to be durable in order to protect the artifacts displayed in them. A plaque was installed that articulated the hospital’s mission, vision and values and numerous acrylic plaques with silver standoffs were used to display photographs and text  featuring many moments in the history of the hospital.
